{Project Happy Hearts}

Ever feel compelled to make a difference but not really sure what to do or HOW? Ever feel like sometimes all you hear about are sad stories and you're not really sure HOW to process the information? I do. I don't watch the news. I don't read the paper. I don't even watch crime shows with all of the sad stories. My heart cannot handle it. If enclosing my little world in a bubble were an option, I may just do it.

Then I came across Tuesday. A beautiful little girl with a twin sister and two older brothers. I was compelled to read her story and the story of her family. Tuesday passed away this weekend due to cancer. My heart aches for her family and friends and I know that doesn't compare to what they must be feeling.

I wanted to organize something in Tuesday's honor. I prayed and thought a lot about this. I wanted to turn this ache that I feel into positive energy and honor Tuesday's time here. I know that her story did not end with her time here on earth. I have teamed up with Tabitha at A FiveOhFour Uplifting. Tabitha, along with her family, have a mission to organize goody bags for ALL children with ALL illnesses along with women & children in homeless shelters. This month her family is donating all of the goody bags in Tuesday's honor. The recipients of these bags will be the patients of the San Antonio Methodist Children's Hospital. Please visit A FiveOhFour Uplifting to see how you can help.

Through Tabitha, I also found the Make A Child Smile organization. This organization provides information for people, like you & me, to write uplifting and spirited letters to children with chronic illnesses. Who knew making a difference in a child's life would be so easy!

So, with all of this said... Here is the HOW: I've affectionatly dubbed this little venture {Project Happy Hearts}. I would like to ask each of you to donate to A FiveOhFour Uplifting's mission and/or write a letter to a child in Tuesday's honor. However you feel compelled to make a difference, please do. On Valentine's Day I would LOVE for all of us to share how we made a difference, how we helped make someone's heart smile in Tuesday's honor who really needed it. If we could all post excerpts from our letter(s) or post pictures of what we donated we could all revel in the *magic* of generosity. Mr. Linky & I will anxiously be waiting to see what you come up with. Think about how many hearts you can make happy by doing something so small that would mean something so big to a child.

You can visit Make A Child Smile for more information on how to write your letters and their Featured Children. I will do more posts about {Project Happy Hearts} over the next few days that will include tips in writing your letter along with suggestions for donating to Tabitha's goody bags. Feel free to grab the Happy Heart button to help spread the word!

HELP! A really nice lady left me a comment about her & another blogger teaming up to also honor Tuesday. When I published her comment Blogger ate it - along with one of my comments! Yikes! If any of you know who this might be, please let me know or have her visit me again. I'd LOVE to check out what they are doing too. Thanks!

Kacey, this is so like you, you have such a sweet spirit and such a kind heart. Of course I am with you all the way with this project. I have been to all of the sites and my heart breaks for these families. One would really in our every day busyness not realize there are so many hurting families and children. The blog world does come together quickly and support each other. Your project is perfect for all of us to participate in. Keep us posted and I will certainly put your button on my site!!
